April 26, 2013 - partial eclipse

April 26, 2013 – A Monthly Partial Eclipse This year’s only partial eclipse took place on the 26th. The partial eclipse began at 3:52 AM, and the moon started to re-emerge at 4:23 AM. After hearing about the event, he and his colleague Yang Shi decided to set up a telescope in the open area of the company at 3 AM on the day to capture and observe the entire process. A partial eclipse occurs when the Sun, Earth, and Moon align in a straight line, with the Earth positioned between the Sun and the Moon. This causes the sunlight that would normally illuminate the Moon to be partially blocked by the Earth. On the morning of April 26, Kunming was unusually lively. Taxis and construction trucks were moving around frequently, creating a sense of activity even in the early hours. After setting up the equipment at the company, they waited for the eclipse to begin. However, as the time approached, the sky became overcast, and the eclipse quickly disappeared behind thick clouds. Despite this, they continued to shoot for about 30 minutes. The partial phase lasted until around 4:08 AM, and the final stage ended at approximately 6:13 AM. Overall, the partial eclipse was quite subtle, and both the visual and photographic results were not ideal due to the cloud cover. They agreed that next time, they should plan ahead, choose a better location, and be more prepared for such events. Here are some photos from the partial eclipse of the day:
