Optimize and upgrade the customer domain structure to drive the market demand for machine tools
**Abstract**
With the implementation of national economic policies aimed at mitigating the impact of the international financial crisis, there has been a noticeable surge in demand for large-scale and high-end machine tools across key industries such as construction machinery, energy, shipbuilding, railways, aviation, aerospace, defense, and agricultural equipment. These sectors are undergoing structural adjustments and technological upgrades, which have significantly driven the demand for advanced manufacturing solutions. In particular, the government has prioritized the revitalization of the automotive industry by introducing a series of measures to boost consumption, including the removal of road maintenance fees, halving of purchase taxes, the "Car to the Countryside" initiative, and the "Old-to-New" replacement program. As a result, the Chinese automobile sector has experienced rapid growth, which in turn has stimulated broader demand across the machine tool industry, from low-end to high-end products. Machine tool manufacturers have seen a substantial increase in orders, with a particularly sharp rise in demand for forging equipment.
In the early 1990s, China began adopting advanced press technologies, including German Erfurt press technology, which was introduced to FAW-Volkswagen. Over the past two decades, Chinese machine tool manufacturers have continuously improved their capabilities, mastering cutting-edge technologies from both Eastern and Western countries. This has enabled them to establish strong domestic and international brand recognition. Companies like Chery and Geely, major Chinese automakers, have long relied on these machine tool producers. Recently, they have further enhanced their technological edge by incorporating Swedish APT research and testing hydraulic press technology and developing servo press technology in collaboration with Shanghai Jiao Tong University.
The CNC multi-station press is considered a breakthrough in large-scale stamping equipment. Unlike traditional production lines that require 5 to 6 individual presses, a multi-station press can replace them all, boosting productivity by up to 2 to 3 times. It represents one of the most advanced stamping systems in the country, offering greater efficiency and precision.
To accelerate the industrial application of multi-station press technology, China Machine Tool plans to establish a heavy-duty CNC multi-station press production base in Qihu, Anhui Province, within the next two to three years. The project for the Wuhu Press Industrialization Base is currently progressing well, signaling a strong commitment to technological advancement and industrial upgrading.
In 2012, China’s machine tool industry maintained a steady and healthy development trend. Key performance indicators such as total industrial output, commodity output, sales revenue, and new contract signings all showed consistent growth, laying a solid foundation for achieving full-year business goals. This period marked a crucial step forward in the country’s efforts to strengthen its position in global manufacturing.
