Optimize and upgrade the customer domain structure to drive the market demand for machine tools

**Abstract** With the implementation of national economic policies aimed at mitigating the impact of the international financial crisis, there has been a significant increase in demand for large-scale and high-end machine tools. This is driven by structural adjustments and technological upgrades across key industries such as construction machinery, energy, shipbuilding, railways, aviation, aerospace, defense, and agricultural equipment. The demand has created a strong pull effect on the machine tool market. In particular, the government has prioritized the revitalization of the automotive industry, introducing various measures to boost car consumption, including the elimination of road maintenance fees, halving of purchase taxes, the "Car to the Countryside" initiative, and the "Old-for-New" policy. These initiatives have led to rapid growth in China’s auto sector, which in turn has stimulated overall demand for machine tools across all levels—high, medium, and low-end. As a result, machine tool manufacturers have seen a surge in orders, with the forging equipment market experiencing particularly sharp growth. In the early 1990s, China began adopting advanced machine tool technologies, including German Erfurt press technology, which was integrated into FAW-Volkswagen’s production lines. Over the past two decades, Chinese manufacturers have not only absorbed cutting-edge press technologies from both East and West but also started to build their own brand reputation in domestic and international markets. Companies like Chery and Geely have become long-term clients of these enterprises. Recently, Chinese firms have introduced Swedish APT research and testing hydraulic press technology and successfully developed servo press technology in collaboration with Shanghai Jiao Tong University. The CNC multi-station press is considered a breakthrough in large-scale stamping technology. A single multi-station press can replace a production line consisting of 5 to 6 traditional large presses, significantly increasing productivity by 2 to 3 times. It is regarded as one of the most advanced stamping equipment in the country. To accelerate the industrialization of multi-station press technology, China Machine Tool plans to establish a heavy-duty CNC multi-station press manufacturing base in Qihu, Anhui Province, over the next two to three years. Currently, the Anhui Wuhu Press Industrialization Base project is progressing smoothly, signaling a major step forward in the development of this advanced technology. In 2012, China’s machine tool industry continued to show steady and healthy growth. Key performance indicators such as total industrial output, commodity output, sales revenue, and newly signed contracts all showed consistent improvement, laying a solid foundation for achieving full-year business goals. This period marked a critical phase in the industry’s development, reflecting its resilience and adaptability in a dynamic economic environment.
