On February 25th, the G65 trains carrying passengers from China’s standard EMUs departed from the Beijing West Railway Station and marked two types of CRH-0207 and CRH-0503, known as “Blue Dolphin” and “Golden Phoenix”. Vehicles are reconnected for the first time. Both of these models are Chinese standard EMU prototypes developed and designed by China.

Where is the Chinese standard EMU?

Traction, braking, and network control systems, which were previously acquired by the introduction of technology, are now completely autonomous. "Blue Dolphin" and "Golden Phoenix", these two standard EMUs, indicate that China National Vehicles has fully mastered the nine key technologies and ten supporting technologies of the EMU.

What are the characteristics of "Blue Dolphin" vs "Golden Phoenix"?

"Blue Dolphin": WiFi coverage, increased seat spacing

CRH-0207 train has a blue coating on the front of the train. The “blue dolphin” car train has a capacity of 556 people. It has wireless WIFI coverage and other functions. The distance between the seats is 10cm larger than that of the existing trains. There is a reading lamp above the seats, and the brightness and color temperature can be adjusted manually or automatically. Compared with previous trains, there are also improvements in safety.

"Golden Phoenix": Shorter nose, closed smooth body resistance

The CRH-0503 train is painted in gold and is called the "Golden Phoenix" and is shorter in appearance than the other train. “Golden Phoenix” uses a closed and smooth body design on the outside of the carriage, which greatly reduces the running resistance of the train. Of course, the “Blue Dolphin” also has this function.

Production standardization, two models can be interconnected

The two trains “Blue Dolphin” and “Golden Phoenix” not only have different appearances, they also come from different manufacturers, and their internal electrical circuit design is also different. The reason why the two trains can be reconnected is because they all strictly follow the Chinese standard EMU standard production. After uniting the standards, the EMU not only can achieve reconnection, but the overall cost performance has also been greatly improved.

In 2017, China's standard EMUs will begin mass production and be put into operation. In the future, it will be the main model of China's high-speed rail going out!
