New standard for radioactive limit of building materials

On July 1st, the "Limits for Radionuclide in Building Materials" GB6566-2010 jointly issued by the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine and the National Standardization Management Committee was officially implemented. This standard further revises the inspection standards for radioactive limits of building materials, and provides clear specifications for the production and sales of domestic ceramics, stone and other building materials enterprises.

New standard strict test method

It is reported that the new standard stipulates the test methods for radionuclide limits of building materials and the specific activity of some natural radionuclides, and is applicable to inorganic non-metallic building materials that require radionuclide limits. This standard replaces GB6566-2001 "Limits for Radionuclides in Building Materials", deletes the "Inspection Rules" part of the original standard, and the measurement uncertainty in the new standard adopts the term definitions in the "Glossary of Basic and Common Terminology of International Metrology".

It is reported that most of the indoor environmental radioactivity comes from stone, wall and floor tiles, ceramic sanitary ware and other building materials used in the decoration process, and the biggest radiation hazard is from stone. According to the level of radioactivity, stone materials in China are divided into three categories: A, B, and C. Only A can be used for interior decoration. The radioactivity of ceramic products comes from the soil, slag and stone powder in its raw materials.

Granite radioactivity must be vigilant

At present, consumers are more alert to indoor pollution such as benzene, formaldehyde and PVOC, but their awareness of radiation pollution of building materials is still insufficient.

When investigating the market of building materials such as Sihui and Baliqiao, the reporter found that consumers often pay more attention to their styles and prices when purchasing radioactive building materials such as ceramic tiles and stone materials, which is not enough to determine whether they have radioactive hazards. Attention. Most businesses are also unclear when asked about product radioactivity.

Relevant experts remind consumers that the radioactivity of granite in natural stone is excessive, especially Indian red, maple leaf red, azalea red, British brown, malachite green, etc., so you should choose red, green or flowers with large red spots carefully Granite varieties. At the same time, natural stone should not be used in large quantities indoors, especially in bedrooms and children's rooms. (Text / Newspaper Li Qilin)
