Make sure the fulcrum is placed properly so that it will not sink under pressure. If necessary, a pad can be placed under the fulcrum to increase the force area and distribute the load to the ground. If the load slips or the lever breaks, the person rescued may suffer even more damage. Be sure to keep your feet in a safe position while operating the lever.

Jacks are mechanical devices used to lift heavy loads. Can be used in a narrow space, still must be careful and skilled when using. When using levers and jacks, do not use metal objects to move metal objects. Use rags or wood linings to prevent sparks or slipping.
