How to avoid the reduction of grapes
Due to the impact of adverse weather conditions, nearly 60% of the grapevines in Shaanxi Province have shown slow growth this year, particularly affecting the "Red Earth" grape variety. As a result, the vines have fewer shoots, shorter clusters, and a lower fruit set rate. Experts predict that the production of "Red Earth" grapes in Shaanxi this year will decrease by at least 40%. The question now is: Can the reduced grape capacity recover? Recently, reporters spoke with Professor Liu Zhaoqiang, vice president of the Shaanxi Grape Industry Federation and a well-known grape expert in the region.
Professor Liu Zhaoqiang pointed out that while climate plays a significant role in the decline of "Red Earth" grape production, some farmers have contributed to the problem through improper farming practices. He explained that many growers allow the trees to bear fruit too early, overproduce, and excessively use hormones. These practices cause the trees to consume too much of their organic nutrients, leading to delayed harvests and incomplete recovery of the tree's nutrition. As a result, the trees are not able to survive the winter properly, which affects their ability to sprout, flower, and produce fruit effectively.
To address these challenges, Professor Liu suggested that farmers should focus on two key areas. First, they should improve soil structure by applying appropriate amounts of organic fertilizer, which can enhance the resilience of the grapevines. Second, they should use organic nutritional supplements that help balance the plant’s vegetative growth and reproductive development. Products like "Difeng Tianlu" can boost the organic nutrient levels in the plants, promote a healthier growth cycle, and help revive weak trees, ultimately solving the issue of underdeveloped or unproductive vineyards.
With these strategies in place, it is hoped that the "Red Earth" grape industry in Shaanxi can gradually recover and return to more stable and sustainable production levels.
