However, due to the specific nature of explosion-proof motors, certain additional precautions must be taken during repair or rebuilding. The following guidelines should be strictly followed:
First, personnel involved in the repair process must be familiar with national laws, explosion-proof standards, and relevant regulations concerning the overhaul of such equipment (e.g., obtaining approval from an authorized explosion-proof inspection authority). Second, the repair facility must be equipped with the necessary technical expertise, tools, and testing equipment required for repairing explosion-proof motors. Third, before starting the maintenance, the team should have access to all the essential technical documentation and schematics.
Before conducting a test run after the repair, it is crucial to inspect the cable entry points, relay protection systems, and wiring to ensure they remain intact and comply with explosion-proof requirements. Fourth, maintenance personnel must receive appropriate training to handle explosion-proof motors safely. Fifth, after completing the repair, all required inspection and testing procedures must be carried out by an authorized or recognized explosion-proof inspection unit. If further inspections are needed, they must be conducted by the same inspection body.
Once the repair is completed, the following documents should be provided to the user department: 1) details of the fault condition; 2) a record of the maintenance work performed; 3) a list of replaced or repaired parts; and 4) the results of all inspections and tests conducted.

Following the repair, the motor repair unit must issue a certificate of repair issued by the inspection authority. This certificate should include at least the motor’s name, model, specifications, explosion-proof marking, the repair company's name and its approval number, the explosion-proof certification number, and the date of repair.
The repair marking must be clearly visible, durable, and resistant to chemicals. It should typically be made of metal and permanently affixed to the motor after repair. If the motor is repaired again, the previous repair markings should be removed. The repair code follows GB3836.13-1997.
