China's nickel, copper, cobalt and platinum group metal research project started in Beijing

The launching ceremony of the “Research on the Development and Sustainable Development Strategy of Nickel, Copper, Cobalt and Platinum Group Metal Resources in China” was held in Beijing recently. The participating academicians believe that the project will conduct macroscopic, strategic and forward-looking analysis and research on nickel, copper, cobalt and platinum by investigating the status quo and development trends of nickel, copper, cobalt and platinum group metals at home and abroad. The development and sustainable development of ethnic metal resources provides decision-making consultation and represents the future sustainable development direction of resource-based enterprises in China. The implementation results of the project can be used as a reference for other companies.

It is understood that the project is a concrete manifestation of cooperation between major projects of Gansu Province and China Academy of Engineering. The content of the consultation starts with the analysis of the development of Jinchuan Group, and solves the series of outstanding problems facing the long-term stable development of China's nickel, copper, cobalt, platinum and other non-ferrous metals industries: the mineral resources crisis is becoming more and more serious, and the level of resource development and utilization needs to be improved; The rapid growth of quantity, energy-saving technology urgently needs to be broken; the contradiction of environmental pollution is prominent, the clean production has a long way to go; the overcapacity of primary products and the serious shortage of high-end products. In 2013, the project was approved as a major strategic consulting project of the Chinese Academy of Engineering. Based on Jinchuan Group, the project was strategically consulted and researched in terms of in-depth resource development, efficient clean metallurgy and resource recycling, and high-performance advanced materials. In this regard, the Chinese Academy of Engineering organized an advisory group of 21 academicians from the interdisciplinary fields of chemical engineering, metallurgy, energy, and environment, and divided them into four sub-topics to conduct research. The project plans to complete the final consulting research report in December 2015.

In the speech, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and Vice President Gan Yong said that the project will play a positive role in the upgrading and upgrading of the traditional metal industry. He stressed that to ensure the quality of project research, all relevant departments must work together to negotiate and cooperate, be brave in reform and innovation, and provide guidance on the project work.
